Guitars: Acoustic & Electric & Bass Guitar

Acoustic & Electric Guitar instruments basically have 6 strings.
Some Guitar Instruments have 12 strings ~
That just means there are 2 strings for each one = SAME pitch

Names of Strings on Acoustic/Electric Guitars:
6th = Low E; 5th = A; 4TH = D; 3RD = G; 2ND = B; 1ST = High E
These alphabetical letters are called NOTES = Music notes/sounds

Guitars instruments have about 17 frets: these are the little
metal lines all the way up the Fingerboard/Fretboard.

Each fret on the Guitar is called a “half step” = each finger/fret is a note higher/lower
In terms of music that means: The notes will sound a half step higher or lower
on the guitar instrument.
This is the pattern going UP a half step: E F F# G G# A = 5th fret
                                                                        A A# B C C# D = 5th fret
                                                                        D D# E F F# G = 5th fret
                                                                        G G# A A# B = 4th fret
                                                                        B C C# D D# E = 5th fret
                                                                        E F F# G G# A etc. to the end of the fretboard

Half steps: on guitars instruments are known as “sharps = #” & “flats = b
# Sharp sign: makes the note sound UP a half step; and
b Flat sign: makes the note sound DOWN a half step

This is the pattern with the notes going DOWN a half step:
                                                                        E
F Gb G Ab A = 5th fret
                                                                        A Bb B C Db D = 5th fret
                                                                        D Eb E F Gb G = 5th fret
                                                                        G Ab A Bb B = 4th fret
                                                                        B C C# D D# E = 5th fret
                                                                        E F F# G G# A etc. to the end

As you can see, the letters [NOTES] on the 5th fret are the SAME as they the
notes at the beginning of the  1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th strings, which are the OPEN
strings = NO FINGERS! on the guitar instrument. The 3rd string, G, is NOT
the same. It only has 4 frets/steps on the guitar to get to the 2nd string.

Tuning your Guitar Instrument:
The above information means you can tune your guitar EASILY.
By playing the note on the 6th string, 5th fret “A”, that will give
you the sound for the 5th string “A” of your guitar, etc.

When it comes to tuning the 2nd string on your guitar, you will
only put your finger on the 4th fret “B” to tune “B”, the open B string.

There are 6 pegs that you turn forward or backward to tune the
strings on your guitar.
Forward makes the sound go HIGHER, and
Backward makes the sound go LOWER.

Bass Guitar Instrument:
Notice the spelling of “BASS”= it’s just like the fish, Bass!

The Bass Guitar instrument only has 4 strings. [Some have 5]
LOW = E; A; D; G
If there’s a 5th string it will be a LOW B = below the E

There are many famous makers of Guitars Instruments

Notably: Fender; Martin; Gibson, Ovation and Yamaha
